The Monster 696, unveiled in November 2007 and launched in April 2008, boasted the highest power output per cc among Ducati air-cooled engines. Its success was followed by the announcement of the Monster 1100 in September 2008, featuring a larger 1078 cc engine, single-sided swingarm, radial brake calipers, and enhanced suspension components. In 2009, Ducati achieved a milestone, selling over 12,000 units of the Monster 696, marking the first time one of their motorcycles surpassed 10,000 sales in a year. The 1100 S model offered fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, distinctive color schemes, and aluminum brake disc carriers for a 1 kg weight reduction.

In 2013, Ducati unveiled the Monster 1200 and 1200 S at EICMA, featuring a water-cooled four-valve 1198 Testastretta 11 engine, replacing the Monster 1100 Evo. The Monster 821, introduced in mid-2014, replaced the 796 and featured the 821 cc Testastretta engine from the hyper line, along with the same electronics suite as the Monster 1200. Ducati's 2016 lineup included the Monster 1200 R, touted as the most powerful Monster ever with 160 hp and 97 lb⋅ft (132 N⋅m) torque, featuring a track-focused design and Öhlins suspension. The Monster 797, revealed at the 2016 EICMA Motor Show, served as the new entry-level Monster, boasting a 803 cc Desmodue twin-cylinder air-cooled engine and a 6-speed gearbox, with sales beginning in 2016 and expanding to India in 2017.

Ducati's first-generation Monster lineup included the M600, M750, and M900, each denoting the engine size. The M600 debuted in 1994. In 1998, Ducati introduced the Monster Dark series, starting with the M600 Dark. To clear out existing Monster parts, Ducati released several limited edition models in 1999, including the notable Monster City, featuring unique blue color, leather briefcase-style saddlebags, and raised handlebars. Additionally, starting in 1994, Ducati produced the M400 for select markets with strict regulations on engine size and power, such as Italy, Japan, and Singapore, along with export to countries like Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand. The M400 shared components with the M600 but featured a shorter stroke crankshaft and smaller diameter pistons.
