The Monster 696, unveiled in November 2007 and launched in April 2008, boasted the highest power output per cc among Ducati air-cooled engines. Its success was followed by the announcement of the Monster 1100 in September 2008, featuring a larger 1078 cc engine, single-sided swingarm, radial brake calipers, and enhanced suspension components. The 1100 S model offered fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, distinctive color schemes, and aluminum brake disc carriers for a 1 kg weight reduction.
