Used Rhino 660 Parts

Used OEM parts for the Yamaha Rhino 660 are available at Sun Coast Cycle Sports. The Rhino 660 (YXR660F) was the original model that launched the Rhino side-by-side lineup in 2004, produced through 2007. Powered by the same 660cc five-valve single-cylinder engine found in the Grizzly 660 and Raptor 660, the Rhino 660 featured Ultramatic CVT transmission, selectable 2WD/4WD, independent suspension at all four corners, a tilting cargo bed, and two-seat side-by-side seating. It redefined the UTV market by combining sport-capable performance with real utility. All parts in our inventory are inspected by our Florida-based technicians and listed with individual photos.

Rhino 660 generation and parts compatibility

The Rhino 660 was produced from 2004 to 2007 before being replaced by the fuel-injected Rhino 700 for 2008. The 660 was carbureted with a single Mikuni carburetor feeding the five-valve engine. In 2009, Yamaha implemented a CPSC-mandated safety modification program covering all Rhino models including the 660, which required rear wheel spacers and speed limiting to reduce rollover risk.

The Rhino 660 shares its chassis platform with the Rhino 450 and 700. Frame, suspension, bodywork, cargo bed, seats, steering, and electrical components are largely common across all Rhino models. The Rhino 660's five-valve engine is shared with the Grizzly 660 ATV and is derived from the Raptor 660 sport ATV engine. Some engine internals may cross between these three models, though each has different tuning, intake, and exhaust configurations. The Rhino 660 does not share engine parts with the Rhino 700 (different 686cc four-valve engine with fuel injection).

Common Rhino 660 failure points and replacement parts

Rollover risk and CPSC modification: All Rhino 660 models were included in the 2009 CPSC repair program. Verify that any used Rhino 660 has received the rear wheel spacers and speed limiting modification before operating.

Carburetor issues: The single Mikuni carburetor is susceptible to ethanol damage and stale fuel buildup. Rhinos that sit between seasons frequently need carb cleaning or rebuilding to restore proper running.

CVT belt wear: The Ultramatic CVT belt wears over time under load, mud, and water exposure. Regular inspection and proactive replacement are standard maintenance.

Suspension and steering wear: The independent suspension uses bushings, ball joints, and tie rod ends that wear under off-road conditions. Wheel bearings at all four corners are common replacement items, especially on machines used in wet environments.

Fuel system heat (early models): Like the Grizzly 660, early Rhino 660s could experience fuel overheating in hot weather. Vented side panels help mitigate this issue.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does the Rhino 660 share its engine with the Grizzly 660?

Yes. The Rhino 660 and Grizzly 660 both use the same 660cc five-valve single-cylinder engine. Some internal engine components may cross between the two, though the Rhino uses a different intake and exhaust configuration suited to the side-by-side application. The Raptor 660 sport ATV also uses a version of this engine.

Q: Will Rhino 700 parts fit a Rhino 660?

Most non-engine parts interchange between the Rhino 660 and 700, as they share the same chassis platform. Frame, suspension, bodywork, cargo bed, seats, and electrical components are common. The engines are different (660cc carbureted five-valve vs. 700cc fuel-injected four-valve) and do not interchange.

Q: What replaced the Rhino 660?

The Rhino 660 was replaced by the fuel-injected Rhino 700 for the 2008 model year. The 700 uses a 686cc four-valve engine with electronic fuel injection in the same Rhino chassis platform, offering improved throttle response, better fuel economy, and reduced emissions.
