Sun Coast Cycle Sports stocks inspected used parts for the 2007-2012 Triumph Tiger 1050, the road-focused adventure touring triple that shares its 1050cc engine with the Speed Triple and Sprint ST. The Tiger 1050 replaced the Tiger 955i with more power, improved electronics, and a chassis refined for spirited road riding with adventure-touring versatility. Every component from our Tiger 1050 donors is evaluated at our Odessa, Florida facility, photographed under a unique SKU, and listed with free shipping throughout the lower 48.
Tiger 1050 generation and parts compatibility
| Years | Engine | Power | Key Features |
| 2007-2010 | 1050cc DOHC liquid-cooled triple | 115 hp | Steel trellis frame, 19" front wheel, half fairing, ABS option |
| 2011-2012 | 1050cc DOHC liquid-cooled triple | 115 hp | SE model adds heated grips, center stand, fog lights; otherwise unchanged |
The Tiger 1050 shares its 1050cc engine with the Speed Triple 1050 (2005-2018) and Sprint ST/GT 1050 (2005-2012). Engine internals interchange across all three platforms. The Tiger 1050 uses a specific ECU map with emphasis on midrange torque and smooth power delivery, but the physical engine components are identical.
The Tiger 1050's chassis is unique: a steel trellis frame with adventure-touring geometry, 19-inch front wheel, and long-travel suspension. This chassis does NOT interchange with the Speed Triple's aluminum frame or the Sprint ST's sport-touring chassis. Bodywork, seat, subframe, and the half fairing with tall screen are Tiger 1050-specific.
The Tiger 1050 was replaced by the Tiger Explorer 1200 (2012) and Tiger 800 (2010), which use different engines and chassis. No parts from the Tiger 800 (parallel twin) or Tiger Explorer 1200 fit the Tiger 1050 (inline triple).
Common Tiger 1050 failure points and replacement parts
Regulator/rectifier (2007-2009): Early Tiger 1050 models inherited the R/R vulnerability from the 1050 platform. Later production received improved units. Testing or preemptive replacement with an aftermarket MOSFET unit is recommended on 2007-2009 bikes.
Exhaust header gasket leaks: The three-into-one exhaust system can develop gasket leaks at the header-to-cylinder junction, producing a ticking noise that varies with engine temperature. Gasket replacement is straightforward.
Cam chain tensioner (high mileage): The automatic cam chain tensioner can develop play, producing a top-end rattle on cold starts. Inspection at 20,000+ miles is recommended.
Screen vibration: The tall touring windscreen can vibrate at certain speeds, causing buffeting to the rider's helmet. Aftermarket adjustable screens and screen extenders resolve the issue for most riders.
Coolant system maintenance: The Tiger 1050's fairing provides less airflow to the radiator than naked models. Coolant health is important, particularly for bikes used in slow traffic or hot climates.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Will Speed Triple 1050 engine parts fit my Tiger 1050?
Yes. The Tiger 1050, Speed Triple 1050, and Sprint ST/GT 1050 share identical 1050cc engine internals. Crankshaft, pistons, cylinders, gearbox, and clutch interchange across all three platforms. The Speed Triple and Sprint are excellent donor sources for Tiger 1050 engine components.
Q: Are Tiger 955i parts compatible with the Tiger 1050?
No. The Tiger 955i (2001-2006) and Tiger 1050 (2007-2012) use different engines (955cc vs 1050cc) and different chassis. While both are Tigers, they share no model-specific parts. Some universal accessories may fit both, but all engine, frame, and bodywork components are generation-specific.
Q: Is the Tiger 1050 the same as the Tiger 800 or Tiger Explorer 1200?
No. The Tiger 1050 uses a 1050cc inline three-cylinder engine. The Tiger 800 (2010+) uses an 800cc parallel twin (later 900cc triple). The Tiger Explorer 1200 (2012+) uses a 1215cc inline triple that is a different engine family from the 1050. These are three distinct platforms with no parts interchange between them.
