Sun Coast Cycle Sports carries used OEM parts for the full Can-Am Spyder lineup, BRP's family of three-wheeled roadsters that pioneered the modern trike category. Since the original Spyder GS debuted in 2008, the lineup has expanded to include sport, touring, and cruiser variants powered by Rotax V-twin and triple-cylinder engines. Every Spyder part we stock is individually inspected, photographed, and ships from our Odessa, Florida facility.
The Spyder lineup has evolved through three major platform generations. The original RT and RS models (2008-2012) used Rotax 998cc V-twin engines with a five-speed semi-automatic transmission. The second generation (2013-2022) introduced the Rotax 1330cc inline-triple with a six-speed semi-automatic or manual transmission, spawning the F3 (sport), RT (touring), and RS (roadster) variants. The third generation (2023+) continues the 1330 triple with updated electronics. Parts DO NOT interchange between the V-twin and triple-cylinder generations. Within the triple-cylinder generation, the F3, RT, and RS share the same engine and many chassis components but use different bodywork, ergonomics, and touring equipment. When ordering parts, identifying whether the Spyder is a V-twin (2008-2012) or triple (2013+) generation is the first critical step.
Can-Am Spyder platform overview
The Spyder family uses a Y-frame chassis with two front wheels and one rear drive wheel, providing car-like stability without requiring traditional motorcycle balancing skills. The lineup has evolved through two distinct engine platforms: the original 998cc Rotax V-twin (GS, RS, ST models, 2008-2016) and the current 1330cc Rotax ACE triple-cylinder (F3 and RT models, 2014-present). These two engine families share no internals, making engine platform identification critical for parts sourcing.
Within each engine platform, the Spyder variants share core mechanical components (engine, transmission, frame architecture) but differ in bodywork, touring equipment, and ergonomics. The sport-oriented F3 and touring-focused RT use the same 1330cc triple but have different bodywork, windshields, luggage, and suspension tuning. The older GS, RS, and ST shared the 998cc V-twin in different chassis configurations.
All Spyder models feature BRP's Vehicle Stability System (VSS) integrating ABS, traction control, and stability control. Transmission options have included the SM5 five-speed manual, SE5 semi-automatic (electro-hydraulic shifting), and SE6 six-speed semi-automatic depending on model and year. The SE5/SE6 semi-automatic transmissions are among the most parts-intensive systems on the Spyder platform, with the electro-hydraulic shift actuator being a known maintenance item on older models.
The Can-Am Ryker (2019+) is a separate, more affordable three-wheeled platform that does not share its chassis with any Spyder model. The Ryker 900's engine is related to the Spyder F3's triple-cylinder, but the two vehicles have different frames, bodywork, and most components.
