Sun Coast Cycle Sports stocks inspected used parts for the Honda Odyssey and Honda Pilot off-road vehicles. The Honda FL250 Odyssey (1977-1984) and FL350R Odyssey (1985) were early two-seat off-road buggies with enclosed bodies and rear-mounted engines. The Honda FL400R Pilot (1989-1990) was a sport-oriented successor with a 400cc liquid-cooled engine. These are vintage Honda off-road vehicles that predate the modern side-by-side (SxS) category by decades. Each Odyssey/Pilot component at Sun Coast is inspected, documented with photos, and ships from our Odessa, Florida facility.
Odyssey / Pilot platform overview
| Model | Years | Engine | Key features |
| FL250 Odyssey | 1977-1984 | 248cc air-cooled 2-stroke single | Rear engine, CVT belt drive, enclosed body, two-seat |
| FL350R Odyssey | 1985 | 350cc liquid-cooled 2-stroke single | Upgraded engine, improved suspension, one-year production |
| FL400R Pilot | 1989-1990 | 400cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke single | Sport-oriented, independent rear suspension, two-seat |
These three models are separate platforms with no significant parts interchange between them. The FL250 Odyssey uses a two-stroke engine while the FL400R Pilot uses a four-stroke. The FL350R bridges the gap with a larger two-stroke but a different chassis from the FL250. Within the FL250 Odyssey's long 1977-1984 run, parts interchange broadly, though early and late models have some differences in bodywork and suspension components. The FL350R and FL400R were each produced for very short runs, making their parts increasingly rare.
None of these vehicles share components with Honda's modern Pioneer or Talon side-by-sides, Honda ATVs, or Honda motorcycles. They are standalone vintage off-road platforms with dedicated parts that are becoming scarce through normal attrition.
Common Odyssey / Pilot failure points and replacement parts
CVT belt wear (FL250): The FL250 Odyssey's CVT belt is a high-wear item that stretches and eventually breaks with use. Aftermarket replacement belts remain available.
Two-stroke engine maintenance (FL250, FL350R): The two-stroke engines require proper premix oil ratios and periodic top-end rebuilds. Piston and ring kits are the most common engine parts needed.
Body panel and floor damage: The enclosed body panels on the Odyssey crack and break from off-road impacts. Replacement body panels for these vintage machines are increasingly difficult to source, making used panels in good condition highly desirable.
Suspension bushings and bearings: After 35-45+ years, every rubber bushing and bearing in the suspension is suspect. Complete suspension rebuilds with new bushings are standard on any restoration project.
Commonly replaced Odyssey / Pilot parts
- CVT drive belt (FL250)
- Piston kits and rings
- Body panels and floor pans
- Suspension bushings and bearings
- Brake components
- Carburetor and rebuild kit
- Ignition components
- Axles and wheel bearings
Frequently asked questions
Q: Do FL250 Odyssey parts fit an FL350R or FL400R Pilot
No. Each of these three models is a separate platform with a different engine, chassis, and body. No significant parts interchange exists between them.
Q: Is the Honda Odyssey off-road vehicle related to the Honda Odyssey minivan
Only by name. The FL250/FL350R Odyssey is a small off-road buggy produced from 1977-1985. The Honda Odyssey minivan is an entirely separate automotive product with no shared components or engineering.
