Sun Coast Cycle Sports carries inspected used parts for the 2011-2016 Harley-Davidson Road Glide equipped with the Twin Cam 103 engine (1690cc). This era is notable for the Road Glide's transformation: the original FLTR designation ended after 2009, the nameplate took a one-year hiatus for 2014, and the 2015 FLTRX/FLTRXS returned with a completely redesigned frame-mounted fairing. Parts from our Road Glide donors are evaluated at our Odessa, Florida shop, photographed under unique SKUs, and shipped free across the continental U.S.
Road Glide 103ci generation and parts compatibility
The TC103 Road Glide era is more complex than other Touring models because the model underwent a fairing redesign and took a model-year gap. Understanding the timeline is critical for parts ordering.
| Years | Model Codes | Fairing | Key Details |
| 2011-2013 | FLTRX Road Glide Custom, FLTRU Road Glide Ultra | 2010-era redesigned shark-nose | TC103, 6-speed, Brembo brakes, 18" front, pre-Rushmore |
| 2014 | No Road Glide produced | N/A | Model on hiatus during initial Rushmore launch |
| 2015-2016 | FLTRX Road Glide, FLTRXS Road Glide Special | All-new Rushmore shark-nose | H.O. TC103, 49mm forks, Boom! Box, hydraulic clutch, dual Daymaker LED headlights |
The 2015 Road Glide returned with a completely new frame-mounted fairing featuring restyled bodywork, a wider and more aerodynamic profile, and Harley's Daymaker dual LED headlights. This fairing is NOT interchangeable with the 2010-2013 fairing or the original 1998-2009 shark-nose design. Each of the three fairing generations has unique outer shells, inner panels, headlight assemblies, gauge pods, and mounting brackets. The frame mounting points evolved across generations as well.
Behind the fairing, the 2011-2013 and 2015-2016 Road Glides follow the same Rushmore compatibility split as other Touring models. The 2011-2013 FLTRX uses 41.3mm forks, pre-Rushmore saddlebags, and the Harman/Kardon audio system. The 2015-2016 models use 49mm forks, Boom! Box infotainment, One-Touch saddlebags, and hydraulic clutch. Engine internals interchange across all TC103 years.
The 2010-2013 FLTRX Road Glide Custom shared most of its non-fairing components with the FLHX Street Glide of the same era. The 2010 redesign brought the Road Glide's parts compatibility much closer to the fork-mounted fairing models by standardizing saddlebags, seats, fenders, and fuel tank dimensions across the Touring lineup. This convergence makes the Road Glide less parts-isolated than it was in the 1998-2009 FLTR era.
Common Road Glide 103ci failure points and replacement parts
Daymaker LED headlight condensation (2015-2016): The Daymaker dual LED headlights in the 2015+ fairing can develop internal condensation if the housing seals degrade. Moisture inside the LED housing can cause corrosion on the circuit board and intermittent lighting. The sealed LED units are replaced as complete assemblies rather than serviced internally.
Boom! Box infotainment failures (2015-2016): The Road Glide's Boom! Box system experiences the same touchscreen, Bluetooth, and software issues seen on other Rushmore Touring models. The fairing-mounted infotainment system is subjected to additional vibration transmitted through the frame-mounted fairing structure.
Fairing resonance and internal rattle (all years): Frame-mounted fairings transmit engine and road vibration directly to all fairing-mounted components. The 2011-2013 and 2015-2016 fairings both develop internal rattles from loosened fasteners, particularly around the gauge pod, speaker grilles, and inner panel clips. The 2015+ fairing's larger size creates more surface area susceptible to resonance. Periodic re-torque of all internal fairing hardware is essential maintenance.
Hydraulic clutch fluid weep (2015-2016): The hydraulic clutch master cylinder can develop a slow fluid weep, consistent with the issue across all 2014+ Touring models with hydraulic clutch actuation.
Compensator sprocket noise at idle: The TC103's compensator assembly continues to produce the characteristic low-RPM clunk on deceleration common to all Twin Cam touring engines.

- Compensator sprocket assembly
- Fairing mounting brackets and vibration dampeners
Frequently asked questions
Q: Are the three Road Glide fairing generations interchangeable at all?
No. The 1998-2009 original shark-nose, the 2010-2013 redesigned shark-nose, and the 2015+ Rushmore fairing each have unique outer shells, inner panels, headlight configurations, and frame mounting brackets. None of the three generations interchange with another. When sourcing a replacement fairing, you must match the exact generation to your model year.
Q: Why was the Road Glide absent from the 2014 lineup?
Harley pulled the Road Glide from the 2014 Rushmore launch to develop a completely new fairing design. The other Touring models (Road King, Street Glide, Electra Glide) received their Rushmore updates in 2014, while the Road Glide returned in 2015 with the all-new fairing featuring Daymaker dual LED headlights and a wider, more aerodynamic profile. Parts from 2013 and earlier do not fit the 2015+ model, and there is no 2014 Road Glide.
Q: Do 2011-2013 Road Glide saddlebags and seats interchange with same-year Street Glides?
Yes. Starting with the 2010 FLTRX redesign, the Road Glide Custom adopted the same saddlebag dimensions, seat mounting, and rear fender profile as the FLHX Street Glide. This was a deliberate parts convergence by Harley that made the Road Glide much more compatible with the broader Touring accessories ecosystem. Seats, saddlebags, Tour-Pak mounting, and rear fender components from 2010-2013 FLHX and FLTRX models interchange directly.
