FZ168

If you find yourself listening to “Simple Man” by Lynard Skynard quite often, then you might prefer a bike like Yamaha’s FZ1. A naked bike model for over almost 15 years, the FZ1 is definitely the best example of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. For the first five years, Yamaha made no changes whatsoever, in the second generation, from 2006-2015, Yamaha made minor changes to keep up with ever increasing demand for technology by upgrading the ECU.

With its growing fanbase, there is a steady demand for used parts, such as exhausts, seats, and body panels, as riders often customize their FZ-07s. The bike's strong performance, paired with a user-friendly chassis, makes it a great option for urban commuters and weekend riders alike. It continues to be a top choice for those seeking a fun and affordable ride.

FZ0932

Taking the world by storm in 2014, and capturing the hearts of many, the MT-09 (called the FZ09 in North America) has a unique look fused with an extremely fun ride.In 2017, the MT-09 was updated with fully adjustable suspension, traction control, ABS, slipper clutch, LED headlights and a change in cosmetics. In 2020, they finally upgraded the engine to 890cc. This bike was designed to breathe life back into Yamaha as they had been criticized for lacking innovation in recent years, and this bike did just that.

FZ6R432

Not all bikes hit the way you want them to. The FZ6R didn’t have the success Yamaha was hoping for, but still amassed a good following from a group of individuals. The bike ended up being a popular choice for its half-fairing, upright seating position, and underseat exhaust. In the following years, Yamaha made drastic changes to the ECU, fuel injectors, chassis, cowling, fairings, and headlights to try make the FZ6R appealing to more people, but it never quite got where they wanted it.

FZ839

The bike that replaced the FZ6, the FZ8 was Yamaha’s last attempt to find a market for this model. Built bigger, and faster, it wasn’t enough upgrades to capture any additional attention. In 2013, Yamaha made the suspension adjustable, but it wasn’t enough to save it from being discontinued that same year in the USA. If you found yourself loving the lighter crankshaft, and smaller valves than the FZ1, then keep the FZ8 alive by repairing yours and keeping it on the road.
