Used 03-06 CBR600RR Parts

Sun Coast Cycle Sports stocks inspected used parts for the 2003-2006 Honda CBR600RR (PC37), the first generation of Honda's race-replica 600. Developed directly from the RC211V MotoGP machine, the CBR600RR introduced Honda's Dual Stage Fuel Injection (PGM-DSFI), Unit Pro-Link rear suspension, and a center-up exhaust layout to the middleweight class. The 599cc DOHC inline-four produces approximately 117 horsepower in a lightweight aluminum frame cast using Honda's Hollow Fine Die Cast technology. Every part is cataloged with a unique SKU and ships from our Florida facility.

03-06 CBR600RR generation and parts compatibility

PeriodYearsEngineKey details
First CBR600RR2003-2004599cc inline-4, PGM-DSFIRC211V-derived, center-up exhaust, Unit Pro-Link, Hollow Fine Die Cast frame
Revised CBR600RR2005-2006599cc inline-4, PGM-DSFINew bodywork, inverted forks, radial-mount 4-piston calipers, 10kg lighter, catalytic converter

The 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 models represent two distinct sub-generations. The 2005 revision brought new bodywork, fully adjustable inverted front forks (replacing conventional forks), radial-mount four-piston brake calipers, a new aluminum frame, and a 10kg weight reduction. Bodywork does NOT interchange between 03-04 and 05-06. Engine internals are largely shared across 2003-2006, but external fitment parts differ between the two sub-generations.

The 2003-2006 CBR600RR shares NO parts with the CBR600F4i, which was sold alongside the RR as a more street-oriented option. Despite both being Honda 600cc inline-fours, the RR and F4i use completely different engines, frames, and bodywork.

Common 03-06 CBR600RR failure points and replacement parts

Rectifier/regulator: The OEM regulator/rectifier is the most commonly reported electrical failure on the CBR600RR. Overheating leads to voltage regulation failure, killing the battery. Aftermarket MOSFET replacements are the universal recommendation and should be considered preventive maintenance on any used CBR600RR.

Stator failure: Often accompanies or follows regulator failure. A failed regulator can send excessive voltage back to the stator, burning the windings. Replacing both the regulator and stator together is common practice when either fails.

Center-up exhaust heat (2003-2004): The center-up exhaust layout on 03-04 models concentrates heat under the seat and around the tail section. Plastic discoloration and passenger seat degradation are common. The 2005-2006 models retained the center-up layout but improved heat management.

Cam chain tensioner: The automatic tensioner can develop cold-start rattle at higher mileages. Replacement is straightforward and prevents potential timing chain issues.

Commonly replaced 03-06 CBR600RR parts

  • Rectifier/regulator (MOSFET upgrade)
  • Stator
  • Fairings and body panels (crash/track damage)
  • Center-up exhaust and heat shields
  • Cam chain tensioner
  • Fork seals and cartridge internals
  • Radial brake calipers and pads (2005-2006)
  • Rearsets and clip-on handlebars

Frequently asked questions

Q: Will 2005-2006 bodywork fit a 2003-2004 CBR600RR?

No. The 2005 revision brought completely new bodywork with different mounting points, a new frame, and inverted forks replacing the conventional forks on 03-04 models. Only 2003-2004 bodywork is interchangeable with other 03-04 bikes, and 2005-2006 with other 05-06 bikes.

Q: Is the CBR600RR the same as the CBR600F4i?

No. Honda sold both models simultaneously from 2003 to 2006. The CBR600RR is a race-derived supersport with aggressive ergonomics and MotoGP technology. The CBR600F4i is a sport-touring oriented machine with a more upright riding position and different engine tuning. They share no parts despite both being Honda 600cc inline-fours.

Q: Can I use 2007+ CBR600RR parts on a 2003-2006 model?

No. The 2007 CBR600RR was a complete redesign with a new, smaller and lighter engine, new frame, and new bodywork. No major components cross over between the 03-06 and 07+ platforms.
