Sun Coast Cycle Sports stocks inspected used parts for the 2018-present BMW K1600B Bagger, the American-style bagger variant of BMW's inline-six touring platform. The K1600B strips the GTL's top case and full-dress touring equipment to create a lower, sleeker silhouette inspired by the American bagger aesthetic, while retaining the 1649cc inline-six engine's 160 hp and the K1600 platform's sophisticated electronics. The B sits lower than the GT/GTL with a chopped rear fender, low-profile saddlebags, and a more aggressive riding position. Parts from our K1600B donors are pulled at our Odessa, Florida shop, individually inspected and photographed, and shipped free within the lower 48.
K1600B Bagger generation and parts compatibility
| Model | Years | Engine | Power | Key Features |
| K1600B | 2018+ | 1649cc liquid-cooled inline-6, DOHC, 4-valve | 160 hp | Bagger styling; lower stance; hard saddlebags; no top case; audio option |
| K1600 Grand America | 2018+ | 1649cc liquid-cooled inline-6 | 160 hp | Full dresser version of B; adds top case, chrome, premium audio |
The K1600B shares the same 1649cc inline-six engine, Duolever front suspension, and Paralever rear with the K1600GT and K1600GTL. Engine internals interchange across all K1600 variants. The B's chassis is based on the K1600 platform with a lower rear suspension setting, unique saddlebag design, chopped rear fender, and bagger-specific bodywork. The B's saddlebags are hard bags with a different profile than the GTL's panniers and are not interchangeable.
The K1600 Grand America is the full-dress version of the B, adding a top case, additional chrome, premium Marshall audio system, and enhanced touring amenities. The Grand America shares the B's lower stance and bagger bodywork, with the added touring equipment. Most body panels and mechanical components interchange between the B and Grand America.
The K1600B does NOT share its bagger-specific bodywork with the GT or GTL. The B's lower seat, chopped fender, and saddlebag design are exclusive to the B/Grand America. Engine, suspension, brakes, wheels, and most electrical components are common across the entire K1600 family.
Common K1600B failure points and replacement parts
Throttle actuator faults: Same ride-by-wire throttle actuator concern as all K1600 models. Electronic throttle faults trigger limp mode warnings.
ESA suspension faults: Same Electronic Suspension Adjustment vulnerability as other K1600 variants.
Saddlebag latch and hinge wear: The B's hard saddlebags use latches and hinges that can develop wear from frequent opening and closing during touring use. Latch adjustment or replacement maintains secure bag closure.
Audio system (where equipped): The optional or standard (Grand America) Marshall audio system can develop speaker or amplifier faults. The K1600B's open bagger design exposes audio components to more road spray and vibration than the enclosed GTL fairing.
Chrome and finish maintenance: The Grand America's extensive chrome accents and the B's polished surfaces require regular cleaning and protection, particularly in humid coastal environments. Corrosion prevention is an ongoing maintenance concern on chrome-heavy bagger variants.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Does the K1600B share parts with the K1600GT and GTL?
Engine, Duolever front suspension, Paralever rear, brakes, wheels, and most electronics are shared across all K1600 variants. The B's bagger-specific bodywork (chopped rear fender, low-profile saddlebags, lower seat) is unique and does NOT interchange with GT/GTL touring bodywork. For mechanical and drivetrain parts, any K1600 donor (GT, GTL, B, Grand America) is compatible.
Q: What is the difference between the K1600B and the Grand America?
The Grand America adds a top case, additional chrome, premium Marshall audio system, and enhanced touring features to the B's bagger platform. Both share the same lower stance, engine, chassis, and bagger bodywork. The Grand America is essentially a fully loaded K1600B. Most body panels and all mechanical components interchange between the two.
Q: How does the K1600B compare to Harley-Davidson baggers?
The K1600B uses a 1649cc inline-six (160 hp) vs Harley's Milwaukee-Eight V-twin (93-131 hp depending on model). The BMW offers significantly more power, liquid cooling, Duolever front suspension, electronic suspension adjustment, and shaft drive. The Harley offers the traditional V-twin character, a massive aftermarket parts ecosystem, and lower purchase price for comparable used models. No parts interchange between the two platforms.
