Used Low Rider ST FXLRST Parts

Sun Coast Cycle Sports stocks inspected used components for the 2022-present Harley-Davidson FXLRST Low Rider ST. Built on the Milwaukee-Eight Softail platform with the M8 117 engine (1923cc) and a 6-speed transmission, the Low Rider ST is Harley's sport-touring cruiser featuring an FXRT-inspired frame-mounted fairing, hard saddlebags, and a performance-oriented suspension setup. Parts from our FXLRST donors are pulled at our Florida facility, inspected by trained technicians, photographed individually, and cataloged with unique SKUs before listing with complimentary shipping.

Low Rider ST FXLRST generation and parts compatibility

The Low Rider ST launched for 2022 as a new addition to the Softail lineup. All model years use the Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-twin (1923cc) with dual counterbalancers, 6-speed transmission, and the M8-generation Softail chassis with a single rear monoshock and inverted cartridge front fork.

YearsEngineKey Features
2022-2024Milwaukee-Eight 117 (1923cc)FXRT fairing, Heavy Breather intake, 2-into-2 exhaust, solo seat, hard saddlebags
2025+Milwaukee-Eight 117 High Output (1923cc)Revised cylinder heads, oil-cooled heads, 2-into-1 exhaust, LED lighting, ride modes, updated instrument display

The 2022-2024 models share the same engine specification, frame, and most body components. For 2025, Harley introduced the M8 117 High Output variant with redesigned four-valve cylinder heads, oil-cooled head passages routed through a frame-mounted cooler, a new 58mm throttle body, and a 2-into-1 exhaust. The 2025+ also gained Rider Safety Enhancements (cornering ABS, traction control) and a 4-inch display. Bodywork and frame dimensions remain shared across all FXLRST years, but the fairing received updated LED lighting for 2025. Engine top-end components, exhaust, and intake are NOT interchangeable between the 2022-2024 and 2025+ powertrains.

The FXLRST shares its M8 117 engine platform with the FXLRS Low Rider S. The 117ci engine is the same displacement used in pre-2025 CVO Touring models, though the Softail version is air/oil-cooled rather than liquid-cooled. The Softail chassis, monoshock, and inverted fork are shared across M8-era Softail models, though rake angle, ride height, and shock settings vary by model. The FXLRST's FXRT-style fairing, saddlebags, and sport-touring ergonomics are unique to the ST designation.

Common Low Rider ST FXLRST failure points and replacement parts

Rear shock absorber mounting tab (NHTSA 23V591 and 25V375): Harley has issued two recalls affecting 2022-2024 FXLRST models. The mounting tab on the rear shock pre-load adjuster can fracture during normal use, allowing the adjuster to contact the rear tire and carve a groove that may cause sudden pressure loss. The initial recall (23V591, 2023) replaced the fastener; the follow-up recall (25V375, 2025) expanded the remedy with a redesigned bracket. Verify recall completion before purchasing any used FXLRST shock or rear suspension component.

Rear brake ergonomics and performance: The Low Rider ST's rear brake pedal position and linkage geometry are a widely documented complaint across owner forums. The stock setup provides weak rear brake feel and limited modulation, particularly for shorter riders. Aftermarket brake pedal linkage kits from companies like Greene Brothers are a popular upgrade. The front brakes, by contrast, are generally well-regarded.

Heat management: The air/oil-cooled M8 117 produces significant heat, particularly in slow traffic and hot weather. Riders in warm climates report left-leg heat soak from the rear cylinder and exhaust. Aftermarket heat shields and exhaust wraps are common additions.

Solo seat comfort on long rides: The factory solo seat is adequate for shorter trips but receives frequent criticism for inadequate support on extended highway rides. The Sundowner and other aftermarket seats are popular replacements for riders using the ST as their primary touring platform.

Commonly replaced Low Rider ST FXLRST parts

  • Rear shock absorber assembly and mounting hardware (recall-related)
  • FXRT-style frame-mounted fairing and windscreen
  • Hard saddlebags and mounting hardware
  • Solo seat and aftermarket two-up seat options
  • Exhaust system (frequently upgraded to aftermarket 2-into-1)
  • Handlebar risers and handlebars
  • Rear brake pedal and linkage kit
  • Heavy Breather air cleaner assembly

Frequently asked questions

Q: Are Low Rider ST and Low Rider S parts interchangeable?

The FXLRST (Low Rider ST) and FXLRS (Low Rider S) share the same M8 117 engine, 6-speed transmission, Softail frame, inverted front fork, and rear monoshock. Drivetrain and chassis components interchange between the two models. The key differences are the ST's FXRT-style fairing, hard saddlebags, different exhaust routing, and unique gauge cluster. These ST-specific components do not directly fit the Low Rider S.

Q: Will the 2025 Low Rider ST exhaust and intake fit a 2022-2024 model?

The 2025 FXLRST switched from a 2-into-2 exhaust to a 2-into-1 system and introduced a new intake manifold with a larger 58mm throttle body matched to redesigned cylinder heads. These components are part of an integrated powertrain update and will not bolt onto the 2022-2024 M8 117 engine without matching the heads, ECM calibration, and associated hardware. They are not a simple bolt-on swap.

Q: Can I use M8 107 or M8 114 parts on the Low Rider ST's 117 engine?

The Milwaukee-Eight 107, 114, and 117 share the same basic engine architecture. Many external components (covers, cam chest parts, oil pump, primary drive) interchange across all three displacements. The differences are in bore and stroke: the 117 uses a 4.075" bore and 4.5" stroke. Cylinders, pistons, and crankshaft are displacement-specific and do not interchange. Heads are generally compatible across M8 variants, though flow characteristics differ.
