Used Diavel Parts

The Ducati Diavel is Ducati's performance cruiser, produced from 2011 to the present across three distinct engine platforms: the original 1198cc Testastretta 11-degree L-twin (2011-2018), the 1262cc DVT L-twin as the Diavel 1260 (2019-2022), and the current 1158cc V4 Granturismo (2023-present). Each generation is a fundamentally different machine with no parts interchange between them. Sun Coast stocks used Diavel parts from salvage donors that come through our Florida operation, with every component inspected by our technicians, individually photographed, and cataloged under its own SKU. The related XDiavel, a more cruiser-oriented variant with forward controls and belt final drive, is a separate platform from the standard Diavel.

No bodywork, frame, or engine components interchange between any of these four generations. The Gen 1 and Gen 1.5 Diavels share the same basic trellis frame architecture and some body panels may cross between them, but the twin-spark engine update and revised headlight design on the 2015+ models create differences in specific panel fitment and wiring. The Diavel 1260 moved to the DVT engine with a different frame geometry, and the Diavel V4 replaced the trellis frame entirely with an aluminum monocoque and switched from the L-twin to the V4 Granturismo engine (notably using spring valve return instead of desmodromic actuation). The XDiavel (2016-present) shares the Diavel name but uses a belt final drive instead of chain, a different frame with feet-forward ergonomics, and its own bodywork. XDiavel parts do not fit the standard Diavel.

Common Diavel failure points and replacement parts

Desmodromic valve service (Gen 1, Gen 1.5, Diavel 1260): The L-twin Diavel models require desmodromic valve clearance checks at Ducati's specified intervals (every 15,000 miles on Gen 1/1.5, 18,000 on the 1260). This is the most expensive routine maintenance item. The V4 Granturismo in the Diavel V4 uses spring valve return with a 37,000-mile valve service interval, significantly reducing this maintenance burden.

Regulator/rectifier (Gen 1): The first-generation Diavel shares the charging system weakness common to many Testastretta-era Ducatis. Rectifier/regulator overheating and failure can cause battery drain and no-start conditions. Aftermarket MOSFET replacements are a common upgrade.

Rear tire cost and availability: The Diavel uses a 240mm rear tire across the L-twin generations, which limits tire brand and compound options and increases replacement cost compared to standard sportbike sizes. The V4 continues with a 240mm rear.

Side stand switch and tip-over sensor (all generations): Intermittent stalling and no-start conditions have been reported across Diavel generations, often traced to the side stand switch or tip-over sensor. These are inexpensive components but can be frustrating to diagnose.

Commonly replaced Diavel parts

  • Body panels and tank covers (generation-specific, often carbon fiber on Carbon trim)
  • Cam belts and tensioners (L-twin models only)
  • Regulator/rectifier
  • Rear tire (240mm section)
  • Exhaust system and mufflers
  • Brake pads and rotors (Brembo)
  • Side stand switch
  • Mirrors and turn signals

Frequently asked questions

Q: Are Diavel and XDiavel parts interchangeable

No. The XDiavel uses a different frame with feet-forward ergonomics, a belt final drive (vs. chain on the standard Diavel), and its own bodywork. Despite sharing the Diavel name, these are distinct platforms with no parts interchange for bodywork, frame, or drivetrain components.

Q: Does the Diavel V4 still use desmodromic valves

No. The 2023+ Diavel V4 uses the V4 Granturismo engine with conventional spring valve return instead of Ducati's traditional desmodromic system. This extends the valve service interval to 37,000 miles, a major reduction in maintenance cost and complexity compared to the L-twin Diavel models.

Q: Will body panels from a 2011-2014 Diavel fit a 2015-2018 model

Some panels may physically bolt on due to the shared trellis frame architecture, but the 2015 update changed the headlight design, radiator vents, and some panel contours, so fitment is not guaranteed across all body pieces. Electrical connectors for lighting components also differ. For exact fitment, confirm the specific panel and year before purchasing.
