Used Grizzly 300 Parts

Sun Coast Cycle Sports carries used OEM parts for the Yamaha Grizzly 300, the entry-level utility ATV Yamaha sold from 2012 through 2014. Powered by a 287cc air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with CVT automatic transmission and 2WD, the Grizzly 300 was positioned as a compact, affordable utility quad for light-duty property work and recreational trail riding. It featured independent front suspension, a solid rear axle with single shock, and front/rear drum brakes. Each Grizzly 300 part in our inventory has been sourced from a donor unit, inspected by our technicians, and listed with individual photos from our Odessa, Florida location.

Grizzly 300 generation and parts compatibility

The Grizzly 300 was produced for only three model years (2012-2014) with no significant changes between them. All mechanical components interchange freely across all Grizzly 300 production years. The 287cc engine, CVT transmission, chassis, and running gear remained consistent throughout.

The Grizzly 300 is a standalone entry-level platform that shares no significant components with the larger Grizzly 350, 550, 600, 660, or 700 models. Its 287cc engine is unique to the 300, and the 2WD-only drivetrain, drum brake system, and compact frame are specific to this model. The Grizzly 300 should not be confused with the Grizzly 350, which uses a larger 348cc engine with selectable 2WD/4WD and disc brakes. Parts from other Grizzly displacements do not fit the 300.

Common Grizzly 300 failure points and replacement parts

CVT belt wear: The Ultramatic CVT belt is the primary drivetrain wear item. Belt slippage, cracking, and eventual failure are normal over time, especially under heavy loads or aggressive riding. Periodic inspection and timely replacement prevent being stranded on the trail.

Carburetor issues: The single carburetor is susceptible to ethanol-related fuel problems, particularly on machines that sit unused between seasons. Clogged pilot jets and stuck float valves cause hard starting and poor idle quality.

Drum brake adjustment and wear: Unlike the disc-equipped larger Grizzlies, the 300 uses drum brakes front and rear. These require periodic adjustment as the shoes wear and can lose effectiveness if not maintained. Replacement shoes are inexpensive but often overlooked during routine service.

Rear axle bearing wear: The solid rear axle uses bearings that can wear under heavy use, producing a grinding or clicking noise from the rear end. Bearing replacement is straightforward but requires rear wheel and hub removal.

  • Brake shoes (front and rear drums)
  • Rear axle bearings
  • Air filter and spark plug
  • Plastics and fender assemblies
  • Exhaust system and muffler

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does the Grizzly 300 share parts with the Grizzly 350?

No. The Grizzly 300 and Grizzly 350 are different platforms. The 300 uses a 287cc engine with 2WD only and drum brakes, while the 350 uses a 348cc engine with selectable 2WD/4WD and disc brakes. The frames, suspensions, and drivetrains are different. Parts are not interchangeable between the two models.

Q: Is the Grizzly 300 a 4WD ATV?

No. The Grizzly 300 is 2WD (rear-wheel drive) only. It does not have selectable 4WD or a front differential. For Grizzly models with 4WD capability, the Grizzly 350, 550, 660, and 700 all offer selectable 2WD/4WD systems.

Q: What years was the Grizzly 300 produced?

The Grizzly 300 was produced for the 2012, 2013, and 2014 model years. It was discontinued after 2014 and was not directly replaced in Yamaha's ATV lineup. All three model years are mechanically identical.
