Used parts for the 2005-2012 Triumph Sprint ST 1050 and 2010-2012 Sprint GT are available at Sun Coast Cycle Sports. The Sprint ST 1050 was a complete redesign from the 955 predecessor, featuring the same 1050cc inline triple as the Speed Triple and Tiger 1050 in a sport-touring chassis with a single-sided swingarm and integrated luggage. The Sprint GT replaced the ST designation in 2010 with a longer wheelbase and improved touring focus. Our Odessa, Florida technicians evaluate each donor Sprint, photograph parts under unique SKUs, and ship free across the lower 48.
Sprint 1050 generation and parts compatibility
| Model | Years | Engine | Key Features |
| Sprint ST 1050 | 2005-2010 | 1050cc DOHC liquid-cooled triple, 128 hp | Single-sided swingarm, underseat exhaust (3-into-1 under seat), integrated panniers, ABS option |
| Sprint GT 1050 | 2010-2012 | 1050cc DOHC liquid-cooled triple, 128 hp | Longer wheelbase (+146mm), side-mounted exhaust, taller screen, revised panniers, better pillion |
The Sprint ST 1050 shares its engine with the Speed Triple 1050 (2005-2018) and Tiger 1050 (2007-2012). Engine internals interchange across all three models. Each uses different cam profiles and ECU maps optimized for its application (sport touring, naked sport, adventure), but the hard engine components are identical.
The Sprint GT (2010) moved the exhaust from underseat to side-mounted, changed the chassis geometry for longer-distance comfort, and redesigned the panniers. The frame mounting points are shared between ST and GT, but bodywork, exhaust, and subframe differ. Engine and gearbox components interchange between all 2005-2012 Sprint 1050 models.
The 1050cc Sprint is a completely different platform from the 955cc Sprint RS/ST. No parts interchange between the two engine families or chassis designs.
Common Sprint 1050 failure points and replacement parts
Regulator/rectifier (2005-2008): Early Sprint ST 1050 models share the R/R vulnerability common to Hinckley Triumphs. The issue was addressed in later production years but 2005-2008 bikes should have the R/R tested or preemptively replaced.
Underseat exhaust heat (Sprint ST, 2005-2010): The 3-into-1 underseat exhaust concentrates significant heat around the seat and pillion area. Passenger comfort is noticeably affected on long rides. The Sprint GT's move to a side-mounted exhaust for 2010 resolved this complaint.
Pannier latch mechanism (Sprint ST): The integrated Triumph panniers on the Sprint ST can develop latch wear that prevents secure closure. Replacement latches and hinges are available as service items. The GT received redesigned panniers with improved latches.
Cam chain tensioner (high mileage): The automatic cam chain tensioner can develop play at higher mileage. This is shared with all 1050cc triple applications.
Coolant system maintenance: Standard liquid-cooled maintenance applies. The Sprint's full fairing restricts airflow to the radiator at low speeds, making coolant health particularly important in hot weather.
Commonly replaced Sprint 1050 parts
- Regulator/rectifier (2005-2008)
- Pannier latches and hinge hardware
- Exhaust system (underseat ST or side-mount GT)
- Windscreen (various heights)
- Chain and sprocket kit
- Brake pads and rotors
- Fork seals and cartridge service
- Single-sided swingarm bearings
Frequently asked questions
Q: Will Speed Triple 1050 or Tiger 1050 engine parts fit my Sprint?
Yes. The Sprint ST/GT 1050, Speed Triple 1050, and Tiger 1050 share the same 1050cc inline triple engine. Engine internals interchange across all three platforms. Each model uses different ECU tuning and exhaust, but the hard parts are identical.
Q: Can I fit Sprint GT panniers on a Sprint ST?
The pannier mounting system changed between the ST and GT. The GT uses redesigned panniers with different mounting brackets that are not a direct retrofit to the ST's mounting points. Some owners have successfully adapted GT panniers to the ST frame with custom brackets, but it is not a plug-and-play swap.
Q: Are 955cc Sprint parts compatible with the 1050?
No. The Sprint ST 1050 is a complete redesign from the 955 Sprint. The engine, frame, bodywork, electronics, and exhaust are all different platforms. No parts interchange between the 955 and 1050 Sprint models.
