Used Bonneville Bobber Parts

Inspected used parts for the 2017-present Triumph Bonneville Bobber are stocked at Sun Coast Cycle Sports. The Bobber takes the Bonneville's 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel twin and wraps it in a hardtail-look chassis with a hidden monoshock, single saddle seat, and chopped rear fender. Each component from our Bobber donors is evaluated by our Florida technicians, photographed with a dedicated SKU, and listed with free shipping throughout the lower 48.

Bonneville Bobber generation and parts compatibility

The Bobber launched in 2017 and has been offered in standard and Black variants.

The Bobber's 1200cc engine is the same "high torque" (HT) version of the platform shared with the T120, Speedmaster, and Scrambler 1200. Engine internals (crank, gearbox, clutch, pistons, cylinders) interchange among all 1200cc Modern Classics models. The Bobber uses a unique cam profile tuned for low-RPM torque delivery, but the physical cam dimensions are shared across the platform.

The Bobber's chassis is unique within the Bonneville family. The hardtail-look frame hides a monoshock rear suspension under the seat pan, with a cantilever swingarm. This is completely different from the T120's conventional twin-shock setup. Frame, swingarm, rear suspension, seat, and rear fender/mudguard are Bobber-specific and do not interchange with any other Modern Classics model. The front fork and front wheel can interchange with the T120 in some configurations, but verify specific year and trim (the Bobber Black used Showa big-piston forks and Brembo brakes that differ from the standard Bobber and T120).

Common Bonneville Bobber failure points and replacement parts

Monoshock preload adjustment difficulty: The hidden monoshock under the seat requires seat removal to access the preload adjuster. Some owners report the adjuster seizing due to lack of maintenance. Periodic exercise of the preload adjustment and application of anti-seize compound prevents this.

Solo seat comfort on longer rides: The Bobber's signature solo saddle seat is designed for style rather than endurance. Riders using the Bobber for anything beyond short trips typically upgrade to a broader aftermarket solo seat or add a pillion seat kit (which requires the factory accessory subframe and seat mounting hardware).

Rear fender/mudguard spray: The chopped rear fender provides minimal coverage, resulting in road spray reaching the rider's back and the underside of the seat in wet conditions. Aftermarket fender extenders and mudguard kits address the issue without dramatically changing the Bobber's silhouette.

Exhaust header discoloration: Like the T120, the Bobber's stainless headers develop heat-related color changes with use. This is cosmetic and inherent to the material.

Coolant system maintenance: The same liquid cooling system as the T120 requires periodic monitoring and flush.

Commonly replaced Bonneville Bobber parts

  • Solo seat (frequently upgraded for comfort)
  • Exhaust system (popular aftermarket upgrade)
  • Rear monoshock (hidden, accessed via seat removal)
  • Chopped rear fender and mudguard
  • Handlebars (drag bars, low-rise options)
  • Headlight and turn signals
  • Side panels and engine covers
  • Brake pads (Brembo on Black variant)

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does the Bobber share its engine with the T120?

Yes. Both use the same 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel twin. Engine internals interchange directly. The Bobber uses a different ECU map and cam profile optimized for low-end torque, but the physical engine components are shared. You can source engine parts from any 1200cc Triumph Modern Classics model (T120, Thruxton 1200, Speedmaster 1200, Scrambler 1200).

Q: Can I convert my Bobber to a two-up configuration?

Triumph offers a factory pillion seat kit that includes a passenger seat, subframe extension, footpeg mounts, and associated hardware. This kit bolts onto the existing Bobber frame. Third-party pillion kits are also available. The conversion is reversible, allowing you to switch between solo and two-up configurations.

Q: Will T120 or Speedmaster fenders fit the Bobber?

The Bobber uses a unique hardtail-look frame and cantilever swingarm that positions the rear wheel differently than the T120 or Speedmaster. The rear fender/mudguard mounting points are Bobber-specific. The front fender may interchange with T120 parts if the front wheel and fork dimensions match (verify by year and trim), but the rear is not compatible across models.
