Sun Coast Cycle Sports stocks used OEM parts for the Can-Am DS series ATVs, BRP's sport and youth quad lineup. The DS family includes the DS 250 (youth/entry-level, 249cc single) and DS 450 (adult sport, 449cc single), both designed for recreational sport riding with manual transmissions and rear-wheel drive. The DS 450 was produced from 2008 through 2015 and earned a reputation as a competitive sport quad for trail riding and closed-course racing. The DS 250 served as an entry-level sport machine for younger and beginner riders. All parts are individually inspected, photographed, and shipped from our Florida facility.
DS ATV models and parts compatibility
| Model | Years | Engine | Key details |
| DS 250 | 2006-2018 | 249cc liquid-cooled single, carbureted | Entry-level sport. Five-speed manual. Chain drive. 2WD only. |
| DS 450 | 2008-2015 | 449cc liquid-cooled single, fuel-injected | Adult sport quad. Five-speed manual. Chain drive. 2WD. Aluminum frame. |
The DS 250 and DS 450 use different engines in different frames. No parts interchange between the two models. The DS 250's 249cc carbureted single is a basic design unrelated to any other Can-Am powerplant. The DS 450's 449cc fuel-injected single is a dedicated sport engine also unrelated to other Can-Am engines.
Neither DS model shares its engine with the Outlander, Renegade, Commander, Defender, or Maverick families, which all use Rotax V-twin or triple-cylinder engines. The DS ATVs are standalone platforms within the Can-Am lineup.
The DS 90 youth quad is a separate, smaller machine not covered on this page.
Common DS ATV failure points and replacement parts
Chain and sprocket wear: Sport ATV riding with aggressive acceleration wears chains and sprockets faster than CVT-equipped utility quads. Chain and sprocket set replacements are the most frequent drivetrain maintenance item on both DS models.
Clutch wear (manual transmission): The manual transmissions on both DS models use cable-actuated clutches that wear with sport riding. Clutch plates, springs, and cable assemblies are common service items, particularly on the DS 450 ridden aggressively.
Crash and race damage: Sport ATVs get ridden hard and crashed regularly. A-arm components, tie rods, axle carriers, nerf bars, plastics, and handlebars are in constant demand from sport quad riders.
Carburetor issues (DS 250): The DS 250's carburetor requires periodic cleaning and adjustment, particularly after storage. Carburetor rebuild kits are a standard maintenance item.
Top-end wear (DS 450): Aggressive racing and sport riding accelerates piston, ring, and valve wear on the DS 450's single-cylinder engine. Top-end rebuild kits are periodic service items on competitively ridden machines.
Cooling system (DS 450): The radiator on the DS 450 is exposed to roost, rocks, and debris during sport riding. Radiator damage is common. Radiator assemblies and hoses are periodic replacement items.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Does the DS 450 share parts with any other Can-Am?
No. The DS 450's 449cc single-cylinder engine and aluminum sport frame are unique to this model. It does not share engine, frame, or drivetrain components with the Outlander, Renegade, or any other Can-Am ATV or UTV.
Q: Are DS 250 and DS 450 parts interchangeable?
No. Different engines, different frames, different displacement classes. No meaningful parts interchange exists between the two DS models.
Q: Is the DS 450 still in production?
No. Can-Am discontinued the DS 450 after the 2015 model year. The DS 250 continued through 2018. Used parts from donor machines are one of the best sources for maintaining these discontinued sport quads.
