Used FX Series Parts

Sun Coast Cycle Sports carries used OEM parts for the Yamaha WaveRunner FX Series, Yamaha's flagship luxury performance personal watercraft line. The FX family has been in production since 2002, when the FX140 became the world's first four-stroke PWC. Today the FX Series encompasses naturally aspirated HO models and supercharged SVHO variants, all built on Yamaha's full-size three-passenger hull platform. Every FX Series component we stock is verified against its donor unit, cataloged with its own SKU and photographs, and ships from our Florida warehouse.

Gen 4 (current)2019-present1812cc (HO) / 1812cc supercharged (SVHO)All-new hull and deck design, touchscreen display, self-draining footwells, multi-mount accessory system. Audio speakers factory-installed on SVHO/Limited models.

Parts compatibility within the FX Series is primarily defined by hull generation. Bodywork, deck components, and hull-specific fittings are not interchangeable across generations. The 1.8L engine platform has been used since 2008 in various states of tune, so many engine internals cross over within the 1.8L family. However, the supercharged SVHO engine has different internals than the naturally aspirated HO, and supercharger components, intercoolers, and related plumbing are SVHO-specific. The FX Series shares its 1.8L engine platform with other Yamaha WaveRunners (VX, GP1800) and even some Yamaha sport boats, but hull, deck, and electrical components are FX-specific.

Current FX variants include the FX HO, FX Cruiser HO, FX SVHO, FX Cruiser SVHO, and FX Limited SVHO. "Cruiser" models add a touring-style seat with passenger backrest and extended comfort features. The FX Limited adds factory accessories like a premium audio system and accessory packages. Mechanically, all current FX models share the same hull and deck platform, differing in engine tune, seat configuration, and included accessories.

Common FX Series failure points and replacement parts

Supercharger rebuild (SVHO models): The centrifugal supercharger on SVHO models requires periodic inspection and rebuild at approximately 100-hour intervals. Supercharger seals, bearings, and impeller wear are the primary service items. Failure to maintain the supercharger can result in catastrophic engine damage from oil or coolant ingestion.

Jet pump wear ring and impeller: The wear ring inside the jet pump housing degrades over time, reducing thrust and efficiency. Wear ring and impeller replacements are among the most common maintenance items on any FX model, especially units used in sandy or shallow water environments.

NanoXcel hull stress cracking (2012-2018): Some Gen 3 FX units developed hairline cracks in the lightweight NanoXcel hull material, particularly around mounting points and high-stress areas. Yamaha addressed this with NanoXcel 2 material starting in 2015, but earlier Gen 3 hulls may show this issue.

Touchscreen display issues (2019+): The Gen 4 color touchscreen can develop responsiveness problems or water intrusion at the seal points. Display modules and their gaskets are a periodic replacement item on current-generation FX models.

Commonly replaced FX Series parts

  • Supercharger assembly and rebuild components (SVHO)
  • Wear ring and impeller
  • Seat assemblies (standard and Cruiser configurations)
  • Hull and deck panels
  • Touchscreen display module (2019+)
  • RiDE lever assembly and cables
  • Fuel injectors and throttle body
  • Steering assembly and handlebars
  • RecDeck platform and accessories (2019+)

Frequently asked questions

Q: Will FX HO parts fit an FX SVHO from the same year?

Hull, deck, and many chassis components are shared between HO and SVHO models within the same generation. The primary differences are in the engine (naturally aspirated vs. supercharged) and related plumbing. Engine internals, the supercharger assembly, intercooler, and engine management electronics are not interchangeable between HO and SVHO.

Q: Does the FX Series share its engine with other WaveRunners?

Yes. The 1.8L engine platform used in the FX Series also powers the GP1800 and some VX models in different states of tune. Engine internals may cross over, but intake, exhaust, cooling, and engine management calibrations vary by model. The same 1.8L engine family also appears in Yamaha sport boats like the AR190 and SX190.

Q: Can I swap a standard FX seat for an FX Cruiser seat?

Within the same generation, the seat mounting points are identical between standard and Cruiser FX models. An FX Cruiser seat assembly can be bolted onto a standard FX hull to add the touring-style backrest and extended comfort seating, provided both units are from the same hull generation.
