Used Outlander Parts

Sun Coast Cycle Sports carries used OEM parts for the Can-Am Outlander, BRP's flagship utility-sport ATV lineup produced since 2006. The Outlander family spans multiple engine displacements from 450cc to 1000cc, all using Rotax engines with CVT automatic transmissions, selectable 2WD/4WD with Visco-Lok front differential, and independent suspension. Available in base, XT, XT-P, X mr (mud), and MAX (two-up) configurations, the Outlander is one of the most popular and versatile ATV platforms on the market. All parts are individually inspected, photographed, and shipped from our Florida facility.

Outlander models and parts compatibility

DisplacementEngineKey details
Outlander 450427cc Rotax single, fuel-injectedEntry-level. Single-cylinder. CVT. Available in 2WD and 4WD.
Outlander 570565cc Rotax single, fuel-injectedMid-range single-cylinder. Replaced the 500. CVT with EPS.
Outlander 650649cc Rotax V-twin, fuel-injectedMid-size V-twin. Strong all-rounder. CVT with EPS.
Outlander 850854cc Rotax V-twin, fuel-injectedPerformance mid-range. Replaced the 800. CVT with DPS/EPS.
Outlander 1000/1000R976cc Rotax V-twin, fuel-injectedFlagship. 91hp. Same engine family as Commander 1000. CVT with DPS/EPS.

Each Outlander displacement class uses a different engine. Single-cylinder models (450, 570) do not share engine internals with V-twin models (650, 850, 1000). Within the V-twin family, the 650, 850, and 1000 share the same basic engine architecture at different displacements, so some lower-end components may cross over, but pistons, cylinders, and displacement-specific parts do not interchange.

The Outlander's Rotax V-twin engines share heritage with the Commander and Defender UTV lineup. Some engine internals may cross over between the Outlander and corresponding Commander/Defender displacement. The Outlander does not share engines with the Maverick X3 (turbocharged triple) or Maverick Sport/Trail (different V-twin generation).

Trim levels (base, XT, XT-P, X mr) within the same displacement share the same engine and core chassis. Differences are suspension specification, wheels/tires, and accessories. The MAX (two-up) variant adds a passenger seat and extends the chassis.

Common Outlander failure points and replacement parts

CVT belt wear: The CVT belt is the primary consumable across all Outlander models. Utility work, mud riding, and towing accelerate belt wear. Belt replacements are the highest-volume parts request.

CV boots and axle assemblies: Off-road use tears CV boots on 4WD models. CV boot kits and complete axle assemblies are among the most frequently replaced drivetrain items.

Plastic bodywork: ATV plastics take abuse from trail debris, brush, and tip-overs. Fender panels, floorboards, and body panels are high-volume replacement parts.

Cooling system: Radiator exposure to mud, sand, and debris causes clogging and damage across all Outlander displacements. Radiator assemblies and fan components are common parts.

Visco-Lok front differential: The Visco-Lok limited-slip front differential can develop seal leaks and engagement issues on higher-hour machines. Differential seals and related components are periodic maintenance items.

EPS/DPS system: Electronic/dynamic power steering components can develop faults. EPS motor assemblies and sensors are occasional replacement items.

  • CV boots and axle assemblies
  • Plastic fenders and bodywork
  • Radiator and cooling system
  • Brake pads and rotors
  • Front differential seals
  • Tie rods and ball joints

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does the Outlander share its engine with the Commander UTV?

The Outlander and Commander use the same Rotax V-twin engine family. The Outlander 1000 and Commander 1000 share the same basic engine, and the Outlander 650/800 engines relate to corresponding Commander displacements. Some engine internals may cross over. The ATV and UTV applications differ in exhaust, mounting, and ECU calibration.

Q: Are different Outlander trim levels mechanically the same?

Within the same displacement and model year, the base, XT, XT-P, and X mr share the same engine and core chassis. They differ in suspension specification (shock type and adjustment), wheels and tires, and included accessories. Engine and drivetrain parts are universal across trim levels.
